Jim Greco started Deathwish Skateboards with Erik Ellington after they both previously skated for Baker Skateboards. With so much talent coming from the Los Angeles skate scene, as well as from the Baker camp, it was time to branch out and create a new skate brand. Deathwish Skateboards broke out in the 2008 video release ‘Baker has a Deathwish’. The video took direction from the mind of Jim Greco – full of 70s and 80s kitsch horror films and cult followings famous from this era.

Antwuan Dixon, who was with Deathwish since day one, gained notoriety due to his famous hi-jinx and subsequent time in jail. Deathwish has evolved over the years as is now home of 2017 Thrasher Skater of the Year, Jamie Foy. Also on the Deathwish team is Brian ‘Slash’ Hansen, Jon Dickson, Neen Williams, Taylor Kirby, Jake Hayes, Erick Valdez and the one and only Lizard King.
